"The witness and his son were on Route 31 and noticed what he thought was a dirigible just above the trees.  He stopped the car, and he and his son got out to shout to them thinking they might need help with guide lines.  So he shouted up to the thing, “throw down your lines” in an effort to help – or something to that effect.  Suddenly lights went on all around the thing and he saw inside what he thought were non-human creatures inside the craft.  It floated away a little, and then took off at an enormous rate of speed.”

Early 1980’s                                        Hampton Beach

“When I was like 8 or 9, my brother and two friends and I all saw a UFO.  We were in the car, in the back seat, coming home from the beach.  Our moms were in the front seat.  T’was a huge, slow moving fireball!  No joke.  I saw it.  We were all like, ‘Look, look!’ and our moms were yapping away with each other and weren’t really interested.  They were like, ‘It’s probably a plane with the sun reflecting off of it.’  We watched it fly/float, whatever, for like five minutes.  I remember it being reported in the news the next day.  This was the early 80’s.”

"In the evening there was a fast moving light going across the sky that disappeared behind a tree line.  Then there were several lights moving around the sky like ping pong balls.  One went around in an arc and up into the sky and quickly reached the back of the moon and was not seen again."

January 10, 1980                  Exeter

At 12:00 am,      “I saw what appeared to be a very bright star, somewhat orange-yellow which changed intensity to very bright.  I was looking across a field to tree line, where object moved slowly, deliberately, from horizon to overhead and made no noise.  It stopped overhead and I could feel static electricity all around me.  It was three hundred feet up and wider than the road.  The disc was textured like brushed metal with ridges.  The glow of the light emanating around the object seemed to skew the actual color, gray, black or rust brown.  I could hear low humming, like high-tension wires.  There was a flash of light, a beam, as blinding as a camera flash. Although the temperature outside was very cold, it was not cold while underneath.  I felt an extreme burning, like radiation; so intense I thought I was going to burn alive.  I was calling for my friend, fifty yards away.  When we returned to the house, one hundred yards away, we found out we had been gone two hours.  It felt like ten minutes.”

February 1980                      Hillsboro

"Laurie Barr, an education student at New College in Henniker, had a startling experience in February, 1980, driving home after a date with her fiancé, Billy Gould, 22, who works in his family’s well-drilling business.  The Gould’s live on an isolated farm...and on this frosty night, Billy and Laurie had parked their truck in a field behind the Gould’s barn.  They were talking over their marriage plans when Laurie noticed that Billy was staring out the window, transfixed.

"Then I saw a light, like a streetlight shining in the woods,’ she says.  ‘It floated up over the trees and came toward us.’  Laurie huddled close to her fiancé as the lighted object hovered directly over their truck.  Abruptly the truck’s police radar detector went on, filling the cab with its red light.  Laurie screamed to Billy to turn off the engine so the light would go out – she didn’t want them to be illuminated inside the cab.  ‘It looked like a rounded-off football over the truck,’ Laurie says.  Slowly the object drifted away.  Leaving the trucks light off, Billy switched on the engine and slowly followed the craft across the field.  Suddenly the object accelerated and whizzed away like a bullet.”

March 1980                          Hillsboro

“Charles and Mae Hogg, who live in an old farm house in the forested hills that surround Hillsboro, have no doubt that something strange was happening.  They have frequently seen unidentified objects flying overhead.  In fact, Charles, a special policeman working with several of the area departments, says that on patrol he has averaged two sightings a night.  But the Hoggs’ most puzzling experience was with something they didn’t see.  One chilly Saturday morning in March, 1980, Mae looked out her kitchen window and saw footprints in the snow where nobody should have been walking.  Going out to look, Charles found – to his astonishment – that the prints began near the garage, circled past the kitchen window and then marched back to where they had begun.  No prints led into the circle, none led out of it.  Apparently, the walker had dropped from the skies, taken a little hike and then re-ascended.  Charles Hogg is a tall, rawboned man who wears a size 11 shoe.  But the prints were huge, dwarfing his own boots.  And whoever made the prints had taken 42-inch strides.  As a police chief who examined the strange footprints the next day remarked, ‘If this thing comes back, don’t call me.’”

March 20, 1980                     Concord

A man had left work after midnight and was driving in a bad rain and ice storm on Route 3.  Once past Concord on Route 93 it had stopped raining and was cloudy.  The driver saw an unusual light below the clouds, as they approached his car one light turned into multiple lights.  There were eight or ten glowing green neon objects.  One after another of these objects swooped down and flew within one hundred feet, quickly and silently over the car and back up into cloud cover making a green glow.

At 12:30 am, “Was object UFO?  Mrs. Jane Etheridge of Valley Road has reported to local authorities that at about 12:30 am last Saturday, while she was returning home from her job at Sylvania, she spotted a large, bright red and yellow object of undetermined origin.  She described it as looking like ‘a light atop a radio tower’, hovering silently just above the trees near a section of Route 31 between Valley Road and the Washington Service Center.  Etheridge said that she parked her car at the service center and watched as the object began moving slowly northward toward Highland Lake and Lovewell Mountain.  She reported that a short time later the object changed direction and headed toward the service center, but disappeared when a truck approached on 31.”

August 7,  1980                    Mount Washington

"I was backpacking with a friend near Lonesome Lake, just north of Mount Washington.  While lying in sleeping bags, no tent, looking up at the stars, they noticed a shooting star that looked as though it would hit the north side of Mount Washington.  Just before it would have hit the north side, the light swerved two hundred seventy degrees and disappeared.  In five seconds a light was visible over the tree line.  There was also a high frequency humming noise that increased in a pitch, as it got closer.  The light passed directly over our heads.  I recall being frozen in fear.  The light resembled a round glowing ring on a dark mass.”

“On a Sunday night in September, 1980, Annette Vayens was sitting in her favorite living room chair, watching ‘Trapper John’ on television.  It was nearly 11:00 o’clock when she happened to glance at the window behind the set.

‘These four lights came down over the trees and right up to the window,’ she says.  ‘Then they backed off from the window, zoomed back up over the trees and were gone.’  The reddish-yellow lights were intense, she says.  They were arranged in a square, two on top, and two on the bottom.  And each light was a foot in diameter.  Startled, she rushed to the window, but nothing was there.”

Autumn 1980                         Hillsboro

"Late one night in autumn, George Hill was driving home from the Washington school, sixteen miles from Hillsboro on isolated Route 31.  Many people have sighted UFOs along this lonely stretch of road, and Hill himself had often seen lights that behaved oddly in the sky – diving steeply, zipping upward at stunning speeds, abruptly reversing directions.  Rounding a bend, he jammed on his brakes and stared in astonishment; blocking the road ahead was an incredible object.  ‘It looked like a child’s top, about twenty-five feet in diameter, about eighteen feet high,’ says Hill.  ‘It looked as though someone had strung Christmas tree lights around it and a revolving light protruded from the top.’  Metallic-looking, noiseless, the object floated a few feet above the pavement.  Suddenly it slid off the road into a swamp.  As Hill watched, aghast, something like a submarine’s conning tower slid up from the top.  Then an object that looked like a child’s sliding board slowly slid out from the bottom, only to draw back in almost immediately.  For seconds the craft was motionless.  Then slowly, it floated upward to about forty feet over the ground.  And then it “simply disappeared.  Whether it shot away too fast for his eye to follow or vanished in some other way, Hill does not know.”

Summer 1981 or 1982     Monroe, N.H. / Barnet, VT border

“I was traveling with friends on I-91 and near the rest area overlook in the area between Barnet and East Barnet, VT, which is on the N.H. border.  We stopped for a rest, got out, were talking and observed a silver disc hovering over the power line.  It had a pole-like thing touching the power lines.  It was about a half mile away.  It hovered about one minute then took off slowly.  It didn’t make any noise, or have any lights, but the moon had lit up the evening enough to clearly see the shape of the disc.  The next morning the radio announced that the police had received hundreds of calls about sightings that night.”

September 30, 1982            Hampton

"A very important multiple witness, nocturnal close encounter occurred in this city located near Pease Air Force Base.  This large UFO descended silently from the tree top height of a low hill, down into a swamp area, going out of sight and out of possible radar coverage.  The two witnesses describe how they had run almost directly under the large, hovering, soundless UFO, which had a huge oval beam emanating downward from it.  Then while they stood transfixed (apparently under a degree of alien mind-control) during perhaps several seconds, one of them received a powerful telepathic communication.  The stunning chief part of the communication was from the witness understanding what the aliens were telling her, that there really are evil humans and that they are going to get rid of the evil human individuals.  The other of these two witnesses readily attested to the heavy impact that this communication had had on her friend in the weeks following the encounter."

"Orange fireball with strange movement, 30-45 seconds.  It was about mid February 1984 at about 10 or 11 pm, traveling south on Route 10 in Marlow, N.H. heading to Harrisville, N.H., I decided to take a back road and turned left or west onto Route 123.  As I made the turn I observed what appeared to be a barn a top a hill fully engulfed in flame.  I pulled to the side of the road to take a look and thought I observed the fire move.  I thought I must have been moving so I stopped dead still and I observed movement of the fireball…..I did a u-turn on Route 123 and as I headed back south on Route 10, looking back once, and observed unusual movement again.”

October 1984                     Stratham

It was around 7:00 pm one evening “In October, and me, my sister-in-law and young niece were headed to Exeter to go through a Halloween Haunted house.  We saw the craft float or drift across Route 101, going north to south, so as it crossed Route 101 it travelled out across Stratham Hill Park.  There was no sound coming from it and I do not recall any lights on the outside, but rather the inside seemed to be lighted…it was a fairly large craft.  I did not see the same thing as my sister-in-law, which is strange.  My sister-in-law saw a cigar shaped craft with windows and what she said looked like shadows of people moving around behind the windows.  I saw what I describe as a cigar smoking alien (Nazi type uniform) staring straight into my eyes.  I know this sounds ridiculous, but this is what I saw.  I do not know why my sister-in-law and I saw two different things, but this is how it happened.  My young niece is deceased and I only remember that she was quite frightened in the back seat of my car.  I remember joking with my sister-in-law, as we watched the craft continue off over Stratham Hill Park, that it was headed for (omitted) Road to visit with my brother, her husband.  When we got home…sure enough, my brother said he had seen through the kitchen window bright lights about treetop level.  He was so afraid that I his words, ‘I made myself part of the chair’.  He did not go outside or get up to go to the kitchen window’.”
